From Sunday 13th January 2013, Oxford Bus Company will be revising bus fares on city and BrookesBus routes. There will also be changes to the price of some key products from January 27th 2013, including SmartZone and cityzone passes.
Why are we revising our fares?
Over the past year, the cost of providing your bus service has increased considerably. Among other factors, an ever-increasing cost of diesel, substantial reductions in the government fuel rebate (BSOG) and increasing labour costs mean that an increase is inevitable if we are to continue to provide a high standard of service.
We are also investing in more green technology, by purchasing a further 19 brand new electric-hybrid buses. This will ensure that you, our customer, continues to receive a quality bus service, whilst we continue to fulfil our responsibility of improving air quality in Oxford.
Are all the fares increasing?
No. The good news is that many prices remain unchanged. Through a simplification of on-bus fares, the prices of some single and return tickets have actually decreased. Products on the key for park&ride, X90 Oxford – London and the airline also remain unchanged.
We appreciate that in recent years times have been difficult, leading to a strain on personal and family budgets. Your Oxford Bus Company service and in particular our cityzone smartcard products, continue to provide great value for money. These fare changes will ensure that we can continue to provide an excellent value, high quality service into the future.
The new pricing structure can be viewed here. Please note that the park&ride key products, X90 and airline prices will not increase at this time.
