We’re LEZ Ready!

From 1st January 2014, Oxford City Council, together with Oxfordshire County Council will implement the Oxford Low Emission Zone (LEZ).

This means that from this date, all buses operating within the LEZ will have to meet the stringent ‘Euro V’ standards for NOx (various oxides of nitrogen). Oxford Bus Company aims to provide the best possible service to the people of Oxford whilst minimising our effect on the historic city.

We are proud to run the lowest emission bus fleet of its size in the UK, and so our compliance with the new legislation is a natural step forward. Our electric-hybrid buses can cut fuel consumption by as much as 39%. This in turn reduces CO2 emissions by around the same amount. These new vehicles also produce up to 50% less nitrogen oxides compared to traditional diesel engine buses.

We’re happy to be playing our part in Oxford’s future. For more information, including a map of the zone, visit Oxford City Council’s LEZ webpage.
